/ 大坑舞火龍

創立年份: 1880年

大坑火龍始於一八八零年，當時大坑區為一客家農村。在一次風災後，發現一條蟒蛇，並為村民所擊斃。不料，隨後大坑村發生瘟疫，奪多人性命，令村民寢食不安。後村中父老獲菩薩在夢中指點，在中秋佳節晚上，舞火龍繞村遊行，並燃放炮竹，便可驅除瘟疫。村民依從而行，舞過火龍後，果然村民平安。習俗沿襲至今，每逄中秋節前後三晚，都會在區內舞火龍和慶祝中秋節。

火龍全長二百二十英呎，除龍頭和龍尾外，龍身分為三十二節，每節由一支竹桿撐起，用手執著竹桿便可舞動；加上長壽香的火光，令火龍閃閃生輝。此外，還有各種扎作、提燈和龍牌等領先遊行，配以鑼鼓音樂助慶，使整個舞龍遊行活動非常壯觀。

/ Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance

Timeline: Since 1880

The Tai Hang Fire Dragon dance can be dated back to the year 1880. Tai Hang was originally a Hakka village. Villagers discovered a snake after a typhoon disaster. Legend has it that a plague broke out afterward and caused a many lives. Village elders later received Buddha’s message in a dream, asking them to parade the fire dragon through the village and let off firecrackers on the evening of the Mid Autumn festival. The plague ended after the event. From then on, the villagers have performed a three-day fire dragon dance every Mid Autumn to pray for blessing.

Total length of the fire dragon is 220 feet. There are 32 sections in addition to the dragon head and the dragon tail. Every section is propped up by a bamboo pole. People use their hands to move the bamboo poles to facilitate the dancing. With the longevity fragrant fire, the fire dragon is shining with glimmers. In addition, there are all kinds of paper ritual object, lantern and dragon tablet parades accompanied by Chinese drum and music, making the entire fire dragon dance parade utmost spectacular.
