香港鹹魚業早在開埠前已開始,開埠後,因地理關係,西營盤是鹹魚業的重鎮。鹹魚曾是普羅大眾的重要食糧,其味道與氣味陪伴著數代人成長,隨著社會變遷,此行業亦經歷起跌。
長春社文化古蹟資源中心 (CACHe) 將舉辦「城西魚香 - 鹹魚欄的故事展覽」,展覽以西營盤鹹魚欄為中心,展示鹹魚行業的歷史、鹹魚製法和商會故事等,為這個夕陽行業作一個記錄。

The Salted Fish Industry started long before 1841. Due to its special geographical advantages, Sai Ying Pun was the centre of the Salted Fish Industry. Salted fish has ever been one of the important food of the general public in Hong Kong. The taste and smell of salted fish accompanied a few generations. The industry experienced ups and downs as long as the society changes. The Conservancy Association Centre for Heritage (CACHe) is going to hold “West Side Salted Fish Story Exhibition” as to document this traditional industry. With the focus on Ham Yu Street (Salted Fish Street) in Sai Ying Pun, we will show the history and the pickling method, as well as the stories of the industry.
