Intel brief

Guqin is an ancient Chinese musical instrument. It is also one of the earliest plucked-string instruments in the world. The scholars in ancient China not only play, listen to and appreciate qin, they would even make the qin themselves. Starting from seeking a fine piece of timber and completing by attaching the strings, the whole production process is named ‘craftsmanship of qin’. There are nine steps in total:
.Seeking – seeking of timber
.Chopping – sawing into the shape of qin
.Hollowing – digging out troughs
. Fitting – fitting in parts
. Assembling – adding cover and bottom
.Priming – applying primer coat
. Sanding – sanding to smoothen
. Lacquering – covering with lacquer
. Stringing – installing strings

The sound of guqin is bright and solid. It has a range covering the treble and the bass. It is never easy to master the craft of qin making.
