在太平清醮、廟宇開光等場合，時有木偶戲的演出。木偶戲又稱傀儡戲或木頭戲，較常見的可分為提線木偶、掌中木偶、皮影木偶等。另外又有杖頭木偶和手托木偶，藝人托着只有上身的木偶，一邊舞動一邊歌唱來演出，行內說「揸竹」就是杖頭木偶，而「揸頸」則是手托木偶。

手托木偶粵劇所演的劇目、人物角色及音樂等大致與真人演出的粵劇相同。一些老藝人相信粵劇源自木偶戲，故此木偶班亦被粵劇藝人稱為「師傅班」，而木偶藝人被尊稱為「師傅輩」。

During occasions such as Jiao Festival and temple consecration, there will sometimes be puppetry performance. Some commonly shown puppets type are the string puppets, glove puppets, shadow puppets, etc. There are also rod puppets and hand puppets. The artist performs by controlling a puppet with only the upper torso to dance and sing. The jargon of ‘bamboo holding’ denotes rod puppetry while ‘neck holding’, hand puppetry.

Hand puppets are also used to perform Cantonese opera. The programmes, characters and music are generally the same as the Cantonese opera performed by humans. Some artists believe that Cantonese opera was originated from puppet show. Hence, puppet troupe is also called ‘master troupe’ by Cantonese opera artists, while the puppet artist is addressed as ‘master’.

本計劃由康樂及文化事務署非物質文化遺產資助計劃資助，非物質文化遺產辦事處主辦，並由長春社文化古蹟資源中心籌劃，非遺專車——「移動．非遺」會駛進全港中小學校園及各個社區，把不同非物質文化遺產（非遺）項目帶到大家身旁。非遺專車內設有展覽及互動設施，同時配有一系列教育及公眾節目，以有趣和互動的方式提升學生與公眾對非遺的認識，並從中學習欣賞和珍惜文化遺產。
