麒麟是傳說中的生物，客家人視之為瑞獸，可化解煞氣，帶來福氣和保佑。每逢農曆新年、婚嫁、新屋入伙等喜慶場合，客家人總愛舞麒麟。舞麒麟不能只靠一人之力，多由一位師傅或資深成員帶領，另由兩名成員分別舞動麒麟頭部和尾部、三人負責敲鑼、鼓、鑔和鈸等樂器。麒麟跟着音樂節拍，結合傳統武術舞動，為喜事增添熱鬧氣氛。
約三百年前，客家人來到西貢坑口定居，由於常受到海賊侵擾，為了加強防禦，他們便學習武術保衛家園，而舞麒麟正是不錯的武術訓練。傳承至今，對西貢坑口的客家人來說，舞麒麟依舊是生活中不可或缺的一環！

Unicorn (Qilin) is a legendary creature considered auspicious by the Hakka people. It is believed that unicorn is able to ward off evil and bring good luck and blessings. On every Chinese New Year, wedding ceremony, housewarming and other celebratory occasions, the Hakka people like to perform unicorn dance. Such a dance cannot be carried out by one person. It must be led by a master or a senior member. Two performers take control of the head and the tail of the unicorn respectively. There are also three musicians playing gongs, drums, cymbals and other instruments. The unicorn will dance in martial arts moves along the traditional music. It is a great performance to spice up the atmosphere.
About three centuries ago, Hakka people settled in Hang Hau, Sai Kung. As they were frequently threatened by pirates, they learnt martial arts to step up the defence of their homeland. Unicorn dancing is itself a good Kungfu training. Unicorn dance continues to be inherited by the Hakka people in Hang Hau, Sai Kung and is one of the many essential parts of their daily living.

本計劃由康樂及文化事務署非物質文化遺產資助計劃資助，非物質文化遺產辦事處主辦，並由長春社文化古蹟資源中心籌劃，非遺專車——「移動．非遺」會駛進全港中小學校園及各個社區，把不同非物質文化遺產（非遺）項目帶到大家身旁。非遺專車內設有展覽及互動設施，同時配有一系列教育及公眾節目，以有趣和互動的方式提升學生與公眾對非遺的認識，並從中學習欣賞和珍惜文化遺產。
