富立珠寶的鍾先生雖然從未讀過任何設計課程，但他由設計到做都是自己一個包辦，他憑著自己的心思及想像去設計不同的產品。每一件設計的產品都是只此一件獨有的。鍾先生敍述製造一件產品，都需要一些時間，在一天之內不可能完成的。以前在店舖內每個師傅製造一件產品大部分情序都會是自己做的，但鑲石、打磨、電鍍等是另一工序，有時會交由其他師傅負責。
店舖全盛時期有4、5個師傅的，但近這7至10年間，造手飾這個行業開始走下坡。由於生意不好，有些師傅轉到了大公司工作。傳統以來，珠寶多在中環、尖沙咀一些人氣較旺的地區，直至80年代初期，開始有家庭式工場在紅磡開業。發展到80年代末期，基本上整個珠寶製造業都開設在紅磡。
90年代及往後十多年間學師的人數急劇下降。現在科技先進和很多程序都電腦化，鍾先生認為雖然現在電腦化可以清楚列明數據，但以前在用手繪圖其實比較靈活。如果客人有其他要求，可即時替客人在紙上改，不過這是年腦的時代，利用電腦來繪圖十分普及，令行業對師傅的需求也隨之下降。

The owner of Fu Lap Jewellery Co., Mr. Chung has never trained as a jewellery designer. Though, he designs and makes his products all by himself. He envisages different products from his imagination. Every piece is unique. According to Mr. Chung, every jewellery piece takes time to create. Nothing can be finished in one day! In the past, the old masters in the shop could manage most of the production process except insetting, polishing and plating, etc which belong to another process, they would pass them to other masters to handle.
In the heyday, there were 4 or 5 in-house masters. However, the industry started to decline in recent 7 to 10 years. Since business is not good, some masters left for larger companies. Traditionally, jewellery shops were concentrated in crowded districts like Central and Tsim Sha Tsui. Until the early 1980s, some family-run jewellery workshops opened in Hung Hom. In the late 1980s, basically the entire jewellery industry has set up business in the Hung Hom area. However, there was a sharp decrease in the number of apprentices since the 1990s and the decade that followed. Now, everything is computerized. Although every data can be clearly computerized, Mr. Chung still thinks that previous hand drawing method is actually more flexible. If customers have any request, he can immediately change it on paper. Though, we are now in the computerized age. The use of computer drawing is popular, the demand for specific skills in masters drop gradually.
