相傳大澳在百多年前出現瘟疫，漁民於是用龍舟拖着載有神像的神艇巡遊水道，驅除瘟疫。隨後瘟疫消失，而這傳統則維持至今並稱為「龍舟遊涌」。
現時大澳三個漁業行會——扒艇行、鮮魚行和合心堂一同負責舉辦此傳統習俗，祈求水陸平安。行會成員於農曆五月初四及初五早上扒着龍舟前往四間廟宇請神，分別請出楊侯、天后、關帝和洪聖神像接返各行會供奉，然後於初五端午節遊涌。儀式過後，他們便會把神像送回各廟宇。

Legends say that Tai O had a plague over a hundred years ago. The fishermen thus carried the statues of deities on dragon boats and paraded through the watercourse to dispel the plague. The plague disappeared and this tradition continued until today. It is now called ’Dragon Boat Water Parade’.
At present, the three fishermen’s associations in Tai O, namely Pa Teng Hong, Sin Yu Hong and Hap Sim Tong, jointly organise this traditional event to pray for peace and safety both on land and at sea. On the 4th day and in the morning on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month, the members of the fishermen’s associations will row the dragon boats to four temples to invite the statues of deities, being Yeung Hou, Tin Hau, Kwan Tai and Hung Shing respectively, to their associations’ halls for worship. Then, these statues will be taken to parade in the water channels during the Dragon Boat Festival on the 5th day. After the ritual, the deity statues will be returned to their corresponding temples.

本計劃由康樂及文化事務署非物質文化遺產資助計劃資助，非物質文化遺產辦事處主辦，並由長春社文化古蹟資源中心籌劃，非遺專車——「移動．非遺」會駛進全港中小學校園及各個社區，把不同非物質文化遺產（非遺）項目帶到大家身旁。非遺專車內設有展覽及互動設施，同時配有一系列教育及公眾節目，以有趣和互動的方式提升學生與公眾對非遺的認識，並從中學習欣賞和珍惜文化遺產。
